Farm and Trade, Inc. President Jeremy Zwinger has returned from discussions with U.S. Secretary Ed Schafer in Washington D.C. California Plants 525,000 acres of rice each year and produces the highest yields in the nation. Zwinger, a commodities broker, made the trip to keep rice producer's interest on the policy table. "Secretary Schafer understands agriculture and the critical role that producers play in protecting the global food supply. I'm honored to have discussed my clients' interest with him," he said. Other USDA officials, industry leaders and trade association officers held separate meetings with Zwingers.
 
In January, Farm and Trade brings the rice research publication, Rice Today, to California from the Philippines. It will also host The Rice Trader Americas Conference in May where over 200 international leaders will discuss food transport, supply, security and global trade.
